Founded in 2007, Current members of Masmoudi:
Director and choreographer of Masmoudi, Hilde Cannoodt
Hilde started the troupe as a trio in May 2007: At the moment, there are 7 girls dancing in Masmoudi, all with their unique qualities as dancers and as people, which makes Masmoudi into the diverse dance company as it is known today.
Hilde has over 15 years of experience in dance and her extensive knowledge in dances such as Egyptian dance, Tribal Fusion, American Tribal Style, contemporary dance, ballet, jazz, street dance and flamenco has created Masmoudi as it is today.
A vibrant fusion belly dance company that never fails to amaze their audience.
Current favourite youtube link,
the inspirational Donna Mejia.
Alicia Meseguer
Alicia has been studying belly dance with Hilde since January 2005. She loves work
that fuses belly dance with Contemporary, Latin and vintage dance forms.
She is interested in narrative and character dance as ways of influencing movement and making dance accessible.
Alicia is a writer, researcher and teacher but she spends most of her time pretending to be a monster and playing chase with her children!

Charlotte Wassell
Dancing with Hilde since September 2006, Charlotte has been irreversibly hooked by the variety of styles and influences incorporated in fusion bellydance - contrasting sharp locks and serpentine movements, energetic folk dances, melancholy melodies and modern electronic music combined with traditional instruments.
She has been dancing as part of Masmoudi since 2008 and is honoured to have supported some of the top names in the UK and Worldwide such as Unmata, Tjarda, Mira Betz & Kimberley McCoy.
She has also enjoyed the privilege of being invited, along with her dance partner Nix, to dance with London ATS troupe Moirai.
Mandy Rossiter
Mandy's first experience of dance was through attending bellydance classes with Hilde
(since July 2006).
She would be lying if it wasnt anything to do with the beautiful costumes but she soon came to love the dance and the wonderful girls she has met over past years.
Fortunate enough to have taken workshops with Mira Betz, Tjarda from the Uzume, Amy Sigil, Kami Liddle and Sam Hasthorpe, she's found all to have been truly fun and inspiring. Mandy has been with Masmoudi since 2008 and has recently started dancing in restuarants.
Mandy works as a portrait Artist, her passions including movie charactors and animals, being around people and spending time with her friends and bunny rabbits!

Nix Harding
Introduced briefly to Belly dance in South Africa in 2002, Nix resumed attending classes in
January 2007 with Hilde.
Hilde sent out an email to dance students regarding upcoming dance events, this introduced Nix to The Indigo, having never seen Tribal Style, the 'totally bitten' bug hit home!
Core inspirers are Samantha Emmanuel, Mira Betz, Zafira, Wendy Marlett, The Uzume, Urban Tribal Dance Co, Moirai, Helm and FatChanceBellyDance.
For the chain of events that have led to Nix joining Masmoudi in 2008, there is a long list of folks to credit for their continued support and encouragement on this Dance Adventure!
A special Thank You to all in Masmoudi for making our Brighton Community the fun and encouraging movement that it is.
Rebekah Selby
Rebekah's lifelong love of dance started at the age of three when she started her first ballet class.
She began studying belly dance with Hilde in May 2006 after travelling around Egypt and has been hooked ever since!
Inspirers include Hilde, Razia, Sadie, Mira Betz, Geneva Bybee, Amy Sigil (Unmata), Tjarda and Kami Liddle.
Dance career highlights include performing with Hilde at 2009’s Bellydance Congress aftershow party and for the 2009 Brighton Festival Fringe launch party.
Rebekah joined Masmoudi in 2009 and loves the social aspect of dancing within a troupe.
When Rebekah is not dancing with Masmoudi she can sometimes be found performing in some of Brighton’s finest restaurants.
Tenzin Harley
Tenzin’s interest in belly dance began at the age of eleven when she saw her first belly dance performance.
Having seen Hilde perform at the Brighton Orient she began studying with her in
April 2007.
Currently she is studying for A levels and wishes to learn contemporary, flamenco and street dance in order to extend her dance vocabulary.
Since studying with Hilde her passion for dance has grown and once she has completed her academic studies
she would like to take a gap year in America where she hopes to study with some her favourite performers – Zoe Jakes, Mira Betz and Anasma.
